Hyundai launched the fourth-generation Tucson in 2020 and underwent a significant update for the 2024 model year, introducing a more European-inspired design to its compact SUV lineup.
Determined to strengthen its position in the competitive compact crossover segment, Hyundai introduced the fourth-generation Tucson just five years after the previous model’s debut in 2015, despite the third generation still looking modern. The initial production faced challenges due to the global pandemic and the prolonged microchip shortage affecting the automotive industry. However, Hyundai persevered and opted for a facelift rather than a complete redesign.
The updated front fascia showcased a distinctive cascade grille flanked by LED headlights featuring slim, angled light guides. The headlight positioning remained low on the bumper in separate housings, similar to the pre-facelift model. To enhance the vehicle’s rugged appearance, Hyundai added a prominent silver skid plate-like trim under the front apron, creating an off-road-ready stance that appealed to customers despite the Tucson’s primarily urban orientation.
From the side, the 2024 Tucson retained its signature sculpted doors that had become a hallmark of the Korean SUV. While the overall profile remained unchanged, the vehicle received newly designed alloy wheels. At the rear, a revised bumper with an integrated silver skid plate matched the front design elements.
The interior underwent the most substantial transformation. The dashboard featured two 12.3-inch displays seamlessly integrated under a single glass panel. The driver-facing screen displayed essential information such as the speedometer and tachometer, while the central screen served as the infotainment touchscreen. The center console received a redesign with traditional rotary controls for the climate system. A unique touch was the steering wheel badge, which replaced the traditional H emblem with four dots representing the letter H in Morse code.
For the European market, the Tucson was equipped with a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with direct injection, available in two power outputs: 150 PS (148 hp) and 180 PS (178 hp). Buyers could choose between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations, paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Additionally, a 1.6-liter full-hybrid powertrain option was also offered.
